About Jennifer

In 1997, I received my PhD in Clinical Psychology from Northwestern University where I was trained in the use of Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioral therapies with adults and adolescents. My post graduate training includes EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Ego State, and Gottman therapies. I draw on all of these psychological approaches to best address the needs of each client.

Specialties & Services

  • Many people seek treatment because their intellectual understanding of their trauma has not resulted in changing their reactivity to triggers. And that makes a lot of sense because traumatic experiences change us on a neurological level that is not altered by intellectual understanding. Working together, we will discover where certain reactions come from, why you respond with such intensity, and how we can work with the nervous system directly to modify these responses.

  • A lot of people coping with distressing levels of anxiety can’t imagine a future where they feel like everything is going to be okay. They look at other people who juggle responsibilities and have fun without worrying, and it feels like an impossible reality. But change is possible. Therapy can help you feel calmer, safer, happier, and more confident in your ability to handle whatever life throws at you.

  • DescWhen a person is traumatized, their brain undergoes neurological changes that talk therapy cannot fully address on its own. EMDR operates on a neurological level, stimulating your brain’s natural ability to heal itself.  EMDR therapy gives you a chance to free yourself from triggered responses to trauma that cause pain and disruption in your life. By healing the original wound, you can enjoy healthier relationships, greater peace of mind, and feel safer and more comfortable in the world.

  • Parenting is challenging. Nobody receives any real training on how to raise a child,  the examples we draw upon for guidance are often flawed or contradict each other, and it doesn’t help that we live in a society that romanticizes the unlikely fiction of a perfect family with perfectly behaved children. Parent coaching offers education and support to help mothers and fathers, in all types of family configurations, increase their confidence and effectiveness in navigating the difficult job of raising children.
